Wittnauer Watches Designed from the start to apply exquisite Swiss craftsmanship to the challenges and demands of American life, Wittnauer has, for almost 125 years, been America’s own Swiss watch.
Only 16 when he arrived in New York from Switzerland in 1872, Albert Wittnauer, already a skilled watchmaker, quickly became a dedicated student of American life. Working for his brother-in-law, an importer of fine Swiss watches, young Wittnauer soon became convinced of the need for a watch designed expressly for the growing U.S. market. The result, in 1880, was the Wittnauer brand, manufactured in Geneva for the New York-based company with all the functions and durability demanded by the active American consumer.
